The WBCS Social-Emotional Learning(SEL) Curriculum focuses on developing students’ emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. We structure our bi-weekly SEL lessons after the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning(CASEL) Framework. This ensures that our SEL lessons cultivate skills and environments that advance students’ learning and development in the areas of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. It includes age-appropriate activities, discussions, and lessons that help children understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and make informed decisions, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
In addition, our school utilizes restorative practices in our daily routines. Restorative practices strengthen relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities.
