At WBCS, our students engage in a dynamic mathematics program crafted just for them. We've taken inspiration from the expert-created Eureka Mathematics modules and infused them with our own creative twists to make learning math an adventure and stay current with best instructional practices. Our curriculum is tailored to meet the latest expectations set by New York State’s Next Generation Learning Standards, ensuring that students receive the best possible education. But that's not all! We believe in making math relevant and fun, so we've incorporated place-based learning into our lessons. For example, one can find word problems featuring the first names of our very own students or Buffalo parks and sports teams. Additionally, the curriculum contains a daily mini lesson to set the stage for mathematical exploration. 

This curriculum perfectly fits into our mathematics rotation model, where students dive into direct instruction tailored to the day's learning target and complete a few lesson examples together. Then, students break into groups for personalized instruction, guided by their dedicated classroom teachers. Through this model, students not only sharpen their math skills but also develop essential 21st-century technology skills, fluency, and independence. Our unique approach ensures that every student receives the support they need to thrive. By catering to individual learning needs, we empower students to excel academically and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.
